Discover the new Wonder Photo Shop Barcelona concept

The successful Wonder Photo Shop concept, a new era of photoshops, continues to evolve seven years after its launch, true to the FUJIFILM motto “Never Stop”. Wonder Photo Shop is becoming a reference for photo culture, appealing to the entire community: from analogue and instant photography enthusiasts to photo amateurs and professional digital photographers.

History:
On 8 October 2015, the first Wonder Photo Shop in Europe opened in Barcelona on Gran de Gràcia street. Since then, the concept has spread worldwide, offering a perfect place where creativity, design, and technology come together to transform our memories and special moments into a unique and personal experience.

At Wonder Photo Shop, there is something for everyone! Besides inspiration for photographic projects or crafts, you can also discover the advanced technology of digital cameras and the most eco-friendly photo printing systems or start capturing your favorite memories with analogue cameras like in the good old days. Why not try the disposable cameras, films, and instant cameras that are once again becoming popular with young people? #10YearsOfXMount – 30 camera models and 40 lenses

We announced our first interchangeable-lens mirrorless camera X-Pro1 with three XF prime lenses on 9th of January, 2012. This is where the history of the X mount began, and this year marks the 10th anniversary.

Our colleagues in the digital camera department have been extremely excited and busy over the last few weeks – now we know why: “The year 2022 is a special year for Fujifilm. On the 9th of January 2012, we have announced our first interchangeable-lens mirrorless camera X-Pro1 with three lenses. The history of the X Mount system began since then and this year marks its 10th anniversary. Over the past 10 years, we have introduced close to 30 X models and 40 lenses, thanks to the growing popularity of X Series.”
We appreciate everyone for choosing and supporting our products. What’s been built in the past 10 years will be the foundation for the 10 years to come. The evolution of X mount will continue.

EXHIBITION “DEL VENDRELL AL MÓN” – Rafa Pérez

“These photographs are a small sample of my view of the world, of my philias and my phobias. In short, my way of being in the world” with this phrase Rafa Pérez summarizes his exhibition which can be visited during the coming weeks.

The hall of Portal del Pardo (c/ Mayor, 20, El Vendrell, Barcelona) hosts, since last December 10, the exhibition ‘Del Vendrell al món’ of the photographer and journalist Rafa Pérez. The exhibition can be visited until February 19, 2022.

In the words of the author himself: “Travelling has to do with a deep desire to understand. To travel is to look for something, in my case the effect that light has on things and from here to interpret it, to believe that for an instant you can play with time. I have not travelled alone, literature and art, essentially painting, have always accompanied me. They are elements that have conditioned my gaze and, therefore, my way of photographing. My travels have always had a point of departure and return: El Vendrell and the Mediterranean lifestyle, with long after-dinner meals with friends, cheese and good wine. From this little corner of the Penedès, I have been broadening my horizon in two directions. First, towards those places that are common to me, places trodden by our ancestors, to find similarities and recognize myself in other places. On the other hand, I have also gone in search of the singular fact, that which differentiates us and which makes human beings so extraordinary.”

Almost all the photographs in the exhibition (28 out of 30) were taken with cameras (X-T1, X-T2 and X-T3) and lenses from Fujifilm’s X series (Fujinon XF16-55mm F2.8 and the XF50-140 F2.8, among others). The copying on Fujicolor Crystal Archive Professional Maxima paper has been excellent, with very good reproduction of warm tones and very deep blacks.

More than 35,000 photos at Fujifilm’s printlife@home exhibition

Welcome to our virtual Printlife Exhibition.

At Fujifilm, we strongly believe in the power of photography to capture and preserve memories for years to come.

Receiving more than 35,000 submissions from 21 countries from across the continent, the result is an exhibition that provides a unique snapshot of 2021. Whether you consider yourself a professional photographer or prefer to capture your memories on your smartphone camera, each photo tells its own unique story.
The exhibition shows that despite living through the second year of a global pandemic, creating new memories with family, friends, and loved ones have never been more important.

Throughout printlife@home, Fujifilm has also celebrated the most creative contributions and meaningful stories by choosing five Photos of the Week, with 90 prizes awarded overall. A selection of the best of these Photos of the Week, selected by a Fujifilm jury, is just a tiny snapshot of life shared by Europe’s public.

GFX Challenge Grant Program

The GFX Challenge Grant Program 2021, sponsored by FUJIFILM, is a grant program that awards 5 Global Grant Awards and 10 Regional Grant Awards to help aspiring creatives bring their imaging projects to life. It is designed to nurture and develop the skills of emerging and promising content creators, giving them the opportunity to create content on topics that have significant meaning to them, while gaining experience using FUJIFILM GFX System gear.

Proposed projects may be submitted as still photography or in a movie format. Submit a project proposal now for a chance to receive one of the desired awards, and take the first step in turning your creative idea into reality!

At the conclusion of the production period in August 2022, the award recipients’ final content will be showcased on the Fujifilm-X website.

Capturing the reintroduction of an extinct species through photography

The ‘Alpine Eagle Foundation’ is about reintroducing the white-tailed eagle, which was made extinct by mankind hundreds of years ago. Because of the extinction, they wanted to capture all developments of the reintroduction of this eagle back into our world through photography. 

In 1934, Fujifilm’s journey began as one of Japan’s first photographic filmmakers. Thus, we always have been and still are huge advocates of photography. Let’s have a look at those impressive animals and the work the “Alpine Eagle Foundation” is doing through the medium of photography on today’s ‘World Photography Day’.

Remi Chapeaublanc discovered his interest in photography at a really young age, but it was not until after his studies that he realised that photography was his passion. One of his first photo series was ‘Gods and Beasts’ which he shot in Mongolia. As Jaques-Olivier Travers, a French filmmaker who is passionate about hawks, saw this photo of Remi’s series, he fell in love with it.

Ever since, they have decided to work together and already started working on bird portraits in 2017 with a FUJIFILM GFX 50S. Nevertheless, it was not until they got their hands on the FUJIFILM GFX 100S that Remi was able to fully commit and trust this new camera of his, which finally met his technical expectations. The FUJIFILM GFX 100S has an extremely fast and flawless autofocus without losing mobility, which is important for animal photography.

Jacques-Olivier and Chopard start their work on the ‘Alpine Eagle Foundation’

Jacques-Olivier has been passionate about the Alpine Eagle since he was very young and thought that if man had been able to make it disappear, he should be able to reintroduce it. Eight years of perseverance later, with the help of the Swiss jeweller Chopard, for whom the alpine terrain around their manufacture and the local wildlife play a major role, Jacques-Oliver set up the ‘Alpine Eagle Foundation’ which has just obtained authorisation to reintroduce the first young birds into the wild.

‘The Alpine Eagle Foundation’ is a charitable foundation endeavouring to reintroduce the white-tailed fishing eagle species in France. This white-tailed eagle is a majestic sea eagle, which was made extinct by humans in Europe about 200 years ago, mainly due to hunting.

How did Remi join the Foundation?

When Jacques-Olivier asked Remi to photograph all the communication images for the foundation, Remi said it would be an honour for him and joined the project, knowing right away that the GFX 100S would be the ideal system to use.

The idea was to create a photo line which displays each stage of development.

After the first photo session which captured the eggs to the hatched eagle babies, the second photo session aimed to shoot portraits of birds between the ages of 6 months to 4 years. Even though Remi is specialised in animal photography, he had never worked with such young birds before. This made his job even harder because the birds’ behaviour became even more unexpectable than it already used to be. 

About ‘World Photography Day

Today we are celebrating the annual ‘World Photography Day’ which was initiated 11 years ago with its first global online gallery on August 19, 2010. However, it actually originates from the invention of a photographic process, the Daguerreotype, developed by Louis Daguerre and Joseph Nicephore Niepce in 1837 which changed the world of photography. Today, the intention is to dedicate one day completely to photography to celebrate its art, craft, history and science.

The Perseids are coming up

Perseids. This meteor shower is an annually recurring spectacle in which a shooting star can be seen in the firmament about every three minutes during the so-called shooting star night.

The Perseids 2021 are coming up. We gathered some important information about the nights of the meteor showers at a glance. Every year between July 17 and August 24, 2021, the Perseids light up the night sky. Whenever the earth on its orbit comes very close to the former orbit of comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle, the number of shooting stars increases. In ideal conditions, you can observe and enjoy more than 100 shooting stars per hour. The maximum of the Perseids will be reached in the night from August 12 to 13, 2021. On this night, you can discover and photograph particularly many shooting stars in the night sky between 7pm and 10pm.
For the Perseids the middle northern latitudes are the best location to observe the shooting stars. The best way to see the Perseids is to look to the northeast.

So that you do not miss the natural spectacle in the sky and can observe well, we have a few tips for you:

  • Pay attention to the weather forecast
  • Choose a dark place outside the city for observation, then you can see the stars best
  • The most comfortable way to observe the stars is lying down

As settings, the photographers here at FUJIFILM recommended us the following equipment and these settings and parameters for the camera:

  • Tripod and a remote shutter release with radio
  • Wide angle lens
  • Aperture 2.8
  • Shutter speed 25 seconds
  • ISO 3200
  • White balance 2800
